AKWASEAL POLYURETHANE INJECTION GROUT FOR REMEDIAL WATERPROOFING
Akwaseal is a single-component polyurethane injection resin designed to seal leaking cracks, voids, or fractures in structural concrete. Akwaseal expands when it comes in contact with water to form a dense, closed-cell foam. Akwaseal's closed-cell foam aggressively bonds to the concrete surface inside the concrete crack forming a barrier that stops the passage of water. It bonds to wet and unprimed surfaces so it can be applied without the need to stop the seepage or leaks prior to application. The elastomeric properties of Akwaseal allow for minimal expansion and contraction of the concrete substrate to maintain its seal.
Akwaseal's reaction with water is very fast. Typically the resin forms the closed-cell foam within 30 seconds and therefore can be used in cracks with actual water flow. Depending on the specific job site conditions, Akwaseal's reaction time can be slowed down or sped up utilizing an accelerator to "adjust" the reaction profile.
In its cured foam state, Akwaseal has been certified for safe use with potable water under NSF Standard 61. Additionally, Akwaseal's cured closed-cell foam has excellent resistance to biological agents and many common chemicals (see chemical resistance chart under product specifications).
Akwaseal seals large concrete honeycomb cavities, as well as, penetrates thin, hairline cracks. It is non-corrosive and withstands freeze/thaw and wet/dry cycling.
Akwaseal can be used to stop water leaks in cracked and honeycombed concrete, concrete cold joints, and around penetrations. Common applications include foundation walls, slabs, concrete decks, tunnels, and concrete dams.
